Dynamic Compression in XMpeg

Put simply, it doesn't work for me... I turn it on, set the desired level, and it proceeds to ingore me. Has anyone got this to work? I tried just boosting the audio afterwards with VirtualDub, but then in the loud parts it gets clipped, sounds like it's been horribly squelched. Not good.
Am I SOL on this one?

you will just have to wait until the next version of Xmpeg comes out.

I have been talking to the author and he says it will be out "very shortly."

Until then, the problem remains pending and still an issue.
