there is my prob, a newbie prob ??:
i ripped with smart ripper
then i used flaskmpeg0.6xis to compress the video 2 pass bitrte =1200 with no audio compressing !
then i used ac3decode to convert ac3 in wav.
Finally i use virtualdub1.48 to compress wav in mp3 and mix the avi !
CRASH? CRASH !!!!!!!!!"access viloation" crash !!!!!!!
virtualdub told me it was because i had hacked codecs !
:(
So i installed on a clean system the 4.12 but there was no mp3 !!!
How can i compress without it ????
Which codecs should i install ? I don't want those crash anymore !

i donwload gknot .21 and its update 0.23. and the latest lame 3.91.
Porb : while i was decompresssing the lame into the Gknot directory , there was an error !
and then a f***** blue screen fatal error !!!! and impossible to reboot !!
i will try in a clean system but i have some questions !
in the pack includes smart ripper 2.40and many others prog ! i have downloaded update of those prog, can i extract them in the gknot directory ??
idem for the 4.12 divx !
hey guys, the road is long to the divx !

Is your computer an older model? The codecs could be using instructions your CPU doesn't support.
(its a long shot but that could be the problem :)

msi MS6380 Le + athlon 1.4 ghz
radeon 64 ddr vivo
sb 1024
388 Mo Ram
win 98 SE
there was no codec installed except the win Média Player's 6.4
but i think one reason could explain it :
i re downloaded lame3.91 with IE and the files look like ok
i will try with a clean system (minimum prog installed ).

i reinstall Gknot 0.21 np ! The first i did it it told me about a l3codeca.acm already in my system !!! And it asked me if i wanna remove my newer version for the old ! i said no
with my second try, no message like thsi because i do no install the 3.11a !
then i installed the update 0.23, and extract lame3.91 in the Gknot directory !
No PROBLEM § No more crash, no more fuc*** blue screen !!
Now always some questions :
i have the 4.12 should i update the the GKnotpack's codec ?
i have smart ripper2.41 should i update the GKnotpack's smartripper ?
plz answer, god or anything else you want, will bless you !
 is there a god for divx ??? it must have one !!

Well, if ain't broken, then don't fix it :)
For me, updating divx 4.11 to 4.12 resulted in some crashes in Vdub.

:D
i take a look into virtualdub compression options to see wich audio codecs i have now !
i look in" all formats" mode but i have no more than 56 kbit/s ?????
i read the Gknot's guide and i see the moderator choose 128 kbit/s !
so if i don't have mpeg layer 3/ more than 56 "all formats" mode, i won't be able to choose 128 in Gknot's window , will i ???
do i need more codecs ??
the guild told no !!!

Gknot doesnt use virtualdub to compress the audio so its perfectly normal and you will be able to compress at any bitrate that you set in gknot. ofcourse not higher than 320kbit.
