Someone needs to get on the case here, Intel is way ahead of them on this :D

Looks pretty cool to me. Good overclocking results.
TechReport's x264 benchmark didn't have any specifics about settings, content, or version. I bet they're using a really old version without i7 optimizations.
What do you think, D_S? Potential for further optimization for Phenom II? I keep hoping team red will come out with a good CPU again..

I saw a lot of test around Phenom II with old revisions of x264 (most of them 8xx revisions) but always found here test with fresh x264 revision.

Phenom II is on par with Q9000 cpus.
i7 is fastest but at higher $ cost especially platform.

Power consumption is also on par.

x4 940 costs approximately as much as the q9400.
keep in mind the test system was still on socket AM2+ and DDR2. with the first AM3 mainboards there will be a faster HT bus, DDR3 support and Ph II cpus will have a 200Mhz faster clock for memory controller.
