Can't get it done either???? Also Disaster movie. Both are released by Lionsgate if that helps? Don't mean to hijack the thread but guess they are both related to same encryption. Have tried Vob blanker, dvdfab, dvd decrypter. No good.

DVD95CopyPro effortlessly processed the R1 version of "Bangkok Dangerous" standard DVD...

If I remember correctly, the trial version of this payware is limited to 20 or 30 minutes of video - to prove to you that it works and induce you to purchase it...
Once again, it worked perfectly with my Region one disc...

Just by way of information there are actually two versions of this DVD.
One will backup fine and the other has a new protection on it that neither DVDFab nor AnyDVD can cope with at the moment.
The version with the 'Digital Copy' on it is the problem one.
Fengtao says it's easy enough to deal with though.

Ok used dvd fab5. When it tries to open and pops up the warning/error. Click abort, it will try and read again, and warning will pop up a second time. After you click abort once more it will go thru. Then I just did movie and used shrink to scan foward just past the Lionsgate opening and it came out great. Movie starts to play automatically when inserted into dvd player. I know it is not the whole disc but for me as a back up works just fine. I have the original if I want to watch the extra's.

Not working for me either using DVD Fab5. I don't get a warning/error message to click on abort like Pitbull did. It just keeps trying to scan the disk forever.

It took about 4-5 minutes for the warning/error to pop up each time.

@Pitbull88
1) In light of the information passed along by "Wombler", which version did you purchase, the single disc version or the two disc plus digital version?
2) What's the Region number of your version?
Pitbull88
7th January 2009, 20:27
Region1 and single disc. With the alternate ending, featurette, theatrical trailer and widescreen version. OK just opened box and on the dvd it says Disc 1 feature film. But only came with one dvd and holder in case for only one dvd?

Then it seems you and I have the same version, that was properly processed by (payware) DVD95CopyPro.
Perhaps another member will be able to tell us if DVD95CopyPro also handles the two disc plus digital version...
Additionally, I'm sure that in a day or two, DVDFab HD Decrypter (and, perhaps, other payware and/or freeware programs) will have been updated to deal with both versions...

Just in from DVDFab website "new protection which was found on Bangkok Dangerous (US) and Disaster Movie (US), you can turn off PathPlayer and make "Main Movie" copy (select title 1) for now. We are working on it, and it should be supported very soon." Most are still having problems with PathPlayer off. See more info here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/dvdfab-5-2-2-5-beta-out-261461/

Just in from DVDFab website "new protection which was found on Bangkok Dangerous (US) and Disaster Movie (US), you can turn off PathPlayer and make "Main Movie" copy (select title 1) for now.Forgive me for "laughing", but I was actually able to use the ancient SmartRipper to successfully rip the "movie only version" by selecting "Movie" and UNselecting the first six tiny cells of Chapter 1 (DO NOT UNSELECT "Cell 7) and UNselecting Chapter 25 in its entirety (All 4 cells). The only additional item to be addressed was to use the also ancient IFOEdit to create the required .IFOs and .BUPs.
The combined time required, for both ripping and creating the .IFOs was less than 15 minutes.
So, as of this writing, you can either use (payware) DVD95Copy to create a Full Disc backup with or without compression (or "movie only") or you can use SmartRipper or (apparently) DVDFab HD Decrypter to only create a "movie only" backup ;>}
@Pitbull88on the dvd it says Disc 1 feature film. But only came with one dvd and holder in case for only one dvd?
That just means that they used the identical disc as a standalone product and as "Part one of two" for the two disc plus digital "Special Edition"(and saved money by not having to produce new graphics, etc.)

@Wombler
Hi!
I've just used DVD95CopyPro to do a full disc backup of the R1 "Disaster Movie" (For which, as far as I know, there is no 2 disc version), which is indicated to have the same copy protection as "Bangkok Dangerous". This coupled with the fact that "Pitbull88" has the same version that I do and the then-existing versions of DVDFab were unable to copy them indicates that there is no distinction to be made between the R1 single disc and "two disc plus digital" regarding the copy protection scheme. Further, the labelling of the disc of the "Bangkok Dangerous" single disc version as "Disc 1" would seem to indicate that the very same disc is used in both versions...
BTW - The notice by "Fengtao" doesn't mention any distinction either:Just in from DVDFab website "new protection which was found on Bangkok Dangerous (US) and Disaster Movie (US)

I wouldn't read too much into Fengtao not mentioning any difference. He's just reporting that they're fixed and the technical detail is irrelevant to that purpose.
The Slysoft forums discuss 'Bangkok Dangerous' in detail in this (somewhat lengthy) thread (http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=24448) and the information I posted here was originally gleaned from the discussions in there.
I don't have this disc myself so I'm unable to confirm this with my own tests but it seems clear that the guys there have already done their stuff.

Hi!Are you referring to DVD95CopyPro or DVDFabHD Decrypter?
I went to that website someone posted (club.cdfreaks) and updated my dvdfab. Then clicked again on the DVDFab HD Decryter and it worked. It took a long time to do it but the first time before I updated it wouldn't even read the disk.
I love Doom9's Forum. Everyone is always so helpful here.

Only slightly OT, but since when did IfoEdit become "ancient"? It hasn't been updated in a few years but performs its job admirably.
As for Disaster Movie, it's strange anyone would want to back it up. Note where it is on IMDBs "worst list" - http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom?tt1213644

@blutachsince when did IfoEdit become "ancient"? It hasn't been updated in a few years but performs its job admirably.Seems you're erroneously confusing my (proper) use of the word "ancient" (and, in the computer world, a program that hasn't been updated in 4 years certainly qualifies) with either "obsolete" or "antiquated" - and IFOEdit is neither "obsolete" nor "antiquated" (Just as my business rivals may consider me to be chronologically ancient, but they know better than to believe that I'm either antiquated or obsolete ;>}) ...
