Hello ppl's! Here is a new newb :)

So i have a question,

I have a avi and I want to convert it into a dvd. (PAL)
But because it is an anime ep, the subs are hardcoded.
When I convert it with convertXtoDVD, it cuts of the sides, and then i can't see the subs anymore.
So, my question is, how can I convert my avi to dvd (PAL), and see all the subs?

Maybe an AviSynth script?
I don't mind black borders etc., I just want to see the subs!
And, I want it to be the right, ehm the right aspect? (I don't know if i say it right, but I mean, no egg-heads etc.)
And I want 3-5 eps on 1 dvd disk, if it is possible.
I have all the decoders and converters installed. (CCCP codec pack, CCE BASIC, CCE SP, CCE SP2, avi2dvd, procoder 3 etc.)

And my English is not very good... so if I have made mistakes, I'm sorry :P
and the doom9 forum in my language is offline because of spam

I like to use DVD Flick which uses ffmpeg as its encoding engine, i have never noticed videos being cropped, give that a go.

just resize to 704x576
http://resizecalc.somestuff.org/index.php?ssmw=856&sar=1&sar2=&ssmh=480&CT=&CL=&CR=&CB=&mplayCrop=&trw=704&dar=1.459&dar2=&modw=&modh=&padw=&padh=&css=&doit=true

and encode as 16:9 dvd

edit: other than display aspect, you will have to play a bit to get to 25fps.

DVD Flick cuts off a little bit at the top and bottom...

and smok3, that doesn't work either, because the programs (i think ffmpeg) cuts off a little bit...

any suggestions for an other program to convert to dvd?

You can try with AVStoDVD. If with default settings you get cropping as well, go to 'Title Edit'/'Video'/'Video Aspect Ratio' and select 4:3.

Let me know

;)

Bye

AVStoDVD works great! no cropping, cutting or whatever!
but... i want to convert it with CCE SP2, because then i can do 4 passes :]
the only problem with CCE is, it adds black borders at the top and the bottom, and resizes the vid.
help plz?

EDIT:

With this avisynth script CCE adds an black border on the right side

AVISource("Bleach - 168.avi", audio=false)
LanczosResize(704,576)

EDIT 2:

I think i got it now...
The same script as above, but then converted as MPEG-2, but NOT for DVD :]

EDIT 3:

Finally! The problem was an overscan on my tv! :P
I created with FitCD an script, and now everything works fine :]
Thnx for the help ppl :]
