Latest svn/git of FFMPEG now has support for nvidia's VDPAU.
Which means hopefully mplayer itself will not be far behind with adding the code into the mainline code base.
Now its a question of what AMD/ATI and intel are going to do.
I would rather all three had agreed on one format they all could use for hidef playback.
With the added VDPAU patch now support is added for hardware-accelerated H.264 video decoding using VDPAU on nvidia hardware that supports it.
