Hello guys,

it's my first attempt at capturing files off LaserDisc with PCM 44.1kHz sound.
I'm having some problems right now and would appreciate some help from you.

Hardware used:
- Sweetspot / PDI Deluxe capture card for video
- M-Audio 24/96 kHz Audio card to capture 44.1 kHz off LaserDisc

this combo generates an .avi stream with PCM 44.1 kHz audio embedded
I would like to gave a .mpg file with the 44.1 kHz sound still untouched.
is there anz program that can convert .avi huffyuv 44.1 kHz to a .mpg file
with PCM sound untouched ?
and if possible convert in just one step ??
I've tried CCE SP and the Audio gets converted to MPEG audio.

any help much appreciated

Hi!

Other than by first extracting/demuxing and upconverting the audiostream to 48KHz and demuxing the M2V videostream - and then using the demuxed streams in a DVD authoring program (a VOB file with one audiostream and one videostream can simply be renamed from .VOB to .MPG), I'm not aware of any other way to multiplex PCM (.WAV) audio with an .M2V audiostream...

thanks for your info.

as I said, I don't want to do anything to the PCM 44.1 kHz .
I'm aware that 44.1 kHz is not in the DVD specs, but I don't intend to
burn it onto a DVD-R, just play it on a media player.

what tools are there to demux a .avi to video and audio stream ?

and which tool can be taken to mux a MPEG2 .m2v with a .wav file?

Thanks again

I KNOW you don't want to create a DVD. I also understand that you'd prefer to retain the PCM (.WAV) audio at 44.1KHz. As I said originally, I'm not aware of any way to mux such streams.

If you RE-read my first post carefully, you'll see that what I'm suggesting will result in an MPEG-2 file with PCM (.WAV) audio - albeit, of necessity, 48KHz.

what tools are there to demux a .avi to video and audio stream ?VirtualDub, for one...
