View Full Version : If I set 8000 as max bitrate why do I get peaks of 9600?

Hello people, I have a question.
I edited the Rebuilder.ini file and added under [Options] the line: max_bitrate=8000
But then when I check the output with Bitrate viewer, MPEG validator, ETC, I get peaks of 9600-9700.
Why is that? Why isn't the line "max_bitrate=8000" working? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
I'll paste my Rebuilder.ini for you to check:

Here we go again.

Sure does get aggravating to see the same questions pasted all over the place. Whose opinion do you want? Or is this just another test?

What's the problem??? Aggravating??
All over the place??? Only two forums. The only ones I know that deal with these kind of subjects. Different forums, different people, maybe more answers. I'm just trying to increase the chances of getting a satisfactory response.
I don't get what the problem is. Please explain.
Is there some kind of "rivalry" between these forums I'm not aware of?

What invariably happens is that the poster gets a solution at one forum and then never updates the other forums, leaving people wasting their time working on an already solved issue, and leaving threads without proper closure.

When people become aware that you operate this way, you'll start getting ignored. Is that what you want? Better to start at one forum and if a solution is not forthcoming, then try another one.

Thanks neuron2. Now I get it.
I deleted the topic on the other forum. It's just here now.

Now, does anyone know what should I do with the issue? :)

Were any of your segments not re-encoded (ie extracted)? If this was the case, the original coding, frame for frame applies and the BR might have gone higher in certain frames.

I think so.
How can I avoid that?
Disabling bitrate redistribution?

Thanks.

You can select "force reencoding" from the MODE menu.

I tried last night selecting "force reencoding" from the MODE menu.
I checked the output with Bitrate Viewer and still got a peak of 9810. Any idea jdobbs?

No idea. If you are setting maximum bitrate, that is what's being passed to the encoder... are you measuring the M2V file or the VOB? The maximum bitrate setting is for video only. From your INI file it looks like you are using CCE SP2... which I would trust for accuracy more than the measuring tools...

I'm measuring the m2v file.
I'll keep trying I guess...
