Dear Readers,

I'm sorry if there's a thread about this already.

But I couldn't find it ><

I was wondering... Is there already a feature to mux .ass files to a file so that the subs are overlayed onto the video and therefore aren't any pixelation

I've looked into the Muxer for meGUI and am not too sure how to use it...

As I noticed, for the AVIMuxer, when I load the RAW .avi and add a .srt onto it.. it gives an output but then I can't play the video, it'll play but the subs aren't shown, and if I try to skim the video it just auto quits.

And I'm asking about this so that when I finish encoding a video (H264 / XviD), then I can just use a Muxer to add in the Subs (.ass) onto the video without having it be all pixelated on-screen.

Also for the Muxer, is it possible if I input a .mp4 / .avi, to have the output with the .ass as the same format and not in .mkv?

Thanks.

What do you want to have as a final output? A softsub or a hardsub?

I'd like it to be a Hardsub.

Then you need to re-encode the video, muxing won't make it a hardsub. I expect that most people will recommend Avisynth and VSFilter to take care of the processing.

Actually yes, I did plan on re-encoding the source, but when adding textsub, the subs come out pixely, and therefore I thought it'd be possible to mux.

But I talked to Sharktooth, and it doens't seem possible if i use the .mp4/.avi containers.

If it is pixelated consider cranking up the bitrate and/or choose a different font/colour combination.
