View Full Version : Audio extract issue with DVD2SVCD from Divx

I have encountered an issue when attempting to convert a Divx source to SVCD with DVD2SVCD. The end result is the audio track accellerated so everyone sounds like chimpmonks. The video is OK.
The extracted MPA ans MP2 audio files actually play at correct speed in media player but are accellerated when played in Winamp.
Any ideas anyone ?

I did not get any sound from beSweet at all while converting divx, so why are you wining? :D
The dilemma with avi/divx file is that there is rather lot of options.
The audio can be of several compression formats in either VBR or CBR at many different bitrates. You have then also the option to have the sound sampled in different resolution.
In SVCD the sound must be in 16-bit CBR MPEG-1 level 2.
Expand the audio (mpa) with “Madplay” and then compress it to mp2 with “2lame”.
The problem you experience can be from the wrong sample size. It should be 16-bit.

I have some new results.
The original avidivx file I have is 44:29sec.
The extracted audio MPA file is 44:16sec using dvd2scvd ???
The converted audio MP2 file is 7:52 sec fast playing audio ???
I actually got around this by using winamp the convert the MPA
file to WAV and used TMPGenc to convert WAV to MP2 which gave me the correct length of 44:29sec. This file was aslo 3 times larger then the dvd2svcd MP2 file.
I then replaced the faulty MP2 file the new one and did a crash recovery in multiplex mode to create the MPEG2 file.
Whilst this the audio in this new MPEG2 seemed to run at the correct speed , it woule eventually go out of sync.
This is when I discovered the MPEG2 file was 53.19sec long not 44:29sec like the original AVIDivx file. This is why its out of sync.
So to me now, this seems like DVD2SVCD is streching the video as well.
Have you discovered this or have any answers ?
Thanks.

Most likely it's because your divx doesn't have a proper framerate. It must me 23.976, 25.000 or 29.970 if it is anything else I try to adjust the framerate so that the above works. Why? Because CCE will have a hard time converting special framerates.

Yes, the current frame rate of this divx is 29.970fps. However, I'm also converting PAL which is what I suspect may be trying to change the fps back to 25fps for a SVCD-PAL conversion. If this is so, how can I force it to do 29.970fps whilst converting to PAL as well ?
If not what else might the isssue ?
Can I assume that using the time length of the files is the a good way of analysing possible problems and that the method I used wouyld work ?
Your assistance are replies are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

As it turns out, not only is the sound converting incorrectly but the video is stretching by nearly 10min when I switch the "NTSC to PAL" conversion on. When I leave it as NTSC the video is the correct time and matches the audio file I created by the MPA to WAV with winamp and WAV to MP2 with Tmpgenc process.
Just have to wait for beta 2 of DVDSVCD106 .
As for the audio, Mr BeSweet Author, keeps telling people "use BeSweet v1.0 ". Unfortunately the same results occur fast playing audio. :)
