Opening NTSC Master and Commander in Avidemux, it is hopelessly out of sync - yet it shows 0 ms shift in 'Audio' > Main Track'.
The file properties, however, do show different lengths for the video and audio.
If the end credits are deleted (using DVD shrink) the audio and video now show the same length and the sync is good.
Loading an NTSC Simpsons episode, hopelessly out of sync (no shift delay indicated) - the properties show different lengths for video and audio.
Nothing I can do will get it synced - adding values to the shift box have minimal effect.
I demuxed parts of M&C with Dgindex and the body of the main movie showed widely different delay values compared to the final credits.
With Simpsons, the delay appeared fixed throughout.
Note that although Avidemuxed showed no delay - the demuxed AC3 files did.
Loading the .m2v and .ac3 files separately did not help, - again inserting different shift values had no effect on the output.
