Just put in a new X-Fi Titanium Professional Series PCI-E sound card. It's got built-in optical in/out jacks, as well as DTS Interactive and Dolby Digital Live.
I was wondering if I could use the optical out to bitstream Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD and DTS-MA audio to a receiver. I'm pretty sure that 8-channel LPCM cannot be done, but I'm still not quite sure about the three other HD audio formats. Does the optical jack provide enough bandwidth to do this, or am I going to have to use the analog outputs + a software decoder?
