DVD read error

Hi, my dvd drive won't read my dvds or cds anymore and it was working earlier today, but now it doesn't work anymore. Anyway to test if it's truly broken, like a program or something?

I also uninstalled the driver and reinstalled and my dvd drive is up to date

Well, DVD drives don't work until forever. They tend to break one day. In my experience it starts like that:
First it takes until forever to recognize the disc, then it won't recognize certain discs at all, finally it won't recognize any disc :(

There are programs to test the number of read errors and stuff. But once the drive refuses to recognize this discs it's over.
You need to get a new drive! A normal DVD drive isn't that expensive though...

You might want to try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your burner. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10US...
