I've been looking for quite some time researching dozens and installing nearly half as many but still find the right one elusive despite my minimal needs.

I'm basically looking for a file cataloger which will allow me to dump each disks contents into 1 of about 6 category choices. These results need to be searchable as a whole and browsable by category. The ability to make notation on a per file basis would be a plus but not required.

With so few requirements I'm confident it's just a case of me not looking in the right place for the proper app. Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks leeperry.

Whereisit is a great app and does it's job well. One of my reasons for looking beyond it was (believe it or not) the plethora of configurable options it offers considering I was looking for a very basic cataloger. Also, the one thing it doesn't offer, at least I can't find the option, is the ability to view a one page list of all items cataloged without the need for generating a report later to be viewed in another app such as Excel. One very big positive for Whereisit would be the comfort in knowing the app is likely to be supported for some time to come, not going to leave me needing to rescan thousands of disks into a new database at a later date.

Appreciate the input, will probably revisit Wherisit giving it a second chance to win me over.
