I have not yet ripped a DVD to SCVD yet utilizing the VBR -2 pass method. Normally I just work with VCD. But, I noticed after I got to the encoding step (after about 4 hours) it said it was 21% and the source postion was 00:00:00 and it was still 0/221625 frame set.

Does this just mean it doesn't show the source postion, etc. until the 2nd pass or am I just wasting my time, because I jacked something up.

First run is a "simulation", you'll see all figures in the second run only.

I'm a little unsure about your use of the word "simulation." The first pass gathers information about how many bits should be allocated to each frame by the second pass of the VBR to get the best quality output.

Single-pass VBR, that "quality" based stuff, still produces VBR streams but it won't do as good a job because it doesn't have an overview of the entire file to be encoded.
