I need the underscan compensation set with my display.

I used to have 7600GT card, but recently changed it to 9500GT. The drivers nor newer card DON'T allow me to use "don't scan" option (it's greyed out). The card generates the output at full resolution (in my case 1920/1080) and then rescales it to smaller one. It's NOT what it is supposed to do. Instead of just shrinking the desktop i rescales it. The picture looks awful. I think it is connected with HDCP compatibility...

Anyway, I've almost managed to fix this. The clue is to force the drivers to show the old control panel, to do this you need to install the retro_panel.reg patch.

Now, when you select "don't scale" option I select the option "treat as hdtv" (or sth like this) you get access to real underscan option (resulting in just shrinking the desktop).

There is one problem however - My perfect desktop size is 1824/1026 and the new card doesn't allow me to select this - with underscan, the maximum desktop size is limited to 1768x992. Looks like the screen allows to select desktop size between about 80 to 90 % of the orginal. I've got no idea where this limitation came from, with 7600GT there was no such problem...

So I can either get cut-off edges with no scalling, poor quality with scalling or (best option) black boarders outside of the desktop.

If I don't fix this somehow I'll probably be looking for an old graphic card (7600GT worked great but it burned down...).

PS: I'm using Sony KDS (rear projection tv) which has obviously some optical overscan.

PS: Creating any custom resolutions with custom timings (even if they are theoretically ok) results in a blue screen.

Anybody has any ideas?

XP SP3, I've tried at least 5 different drivers versions, right now I'm using 180.43 beta.
