I use showtime for some files but what annoys me is that stupid
player control, It's always in the way and on top of the movie.
Is there anyway to get it to open up with the stupid control panel slid almost off the screan or gone altogether?
I hate it, I just use the bar on top and wish the other one did not exist .:mad:

Hi!

I am not at all familiar with the control panel you speak of but, normally, most such player displays have a "close box" ("X") in the upper righthand corner (or can be made to disappear by doubleclicking on the panel itself.

Have you read the player's "Help" file - or the manual? Page 11 of the NERO Showtime manual states:Program interface. Opens the Options menu. [Ctrl+C] Shows the Help file. [F1] Minimizes Nero ShowTime in the taskbar. Exits Nero ShowTime . Displays the minimized view of the control panel. Opens selection of the existing menu or the playlist. [L] Changes between full-screen and normal view.

As I said, I am not at all familiar with the control panel you speak of.

Have you tried any of my suggestions, other than the small quote I provided?

For sure there is a option in the settings to avoid it to show up @ start :) would be plain dumb if not at least very user unfriendly from the Nero guys and i doub't they would make it that more bad for the user then they had it before.
If you don't like such overcrowded interfaces @ all you could use MPC-HC in minimal mode, Mplayer also WMP12 with it's new mode i guess you would like also many other player support this stuff but for most Windows Player it's problematic for some Windows version as XP and render combination's to provide a full OSD driven Navigation and Playback experience unless you go in modes that doesn't support any Hardware acceleration @ all :)
WMP12 is the first one to provide a very nice full accelerated (translucent) rendered OSD user Experience ala Sony does since a longer time on it's Consoles but only for Windows Vista and 7 for XP there are a lot of API problems and it's hard to get such a experience working with full Hardware Acceleration/Decoding and also maintain DRM Protection @ the same time.
Also switching between the Modes in XP is awfully designed there are wait times for closing rendered surfaces and live switching them isn't possible, you need to destroy and recreate all the time , and refreshing OSD stuff live in XP is even a own adventure of itself with hardware decoding working via DXVA.

For numerous reasons I am going to use this player and am not looking for suggestions about other players to use.
All I want is for someone to tell me how to get that controller out of my face!
It will not even open if you do not have a skin selected.
Is there a different skin I could use that would allow more options?
The option to save the position of the skin would be nice, I would push it off the screen and leave it there. :)

It allows you to hide the top toolbar, I want to hide the controller.
Everybody keeps telling me there should be a setting, yeah there should be a setting but where is it?
It is not in the options or configuration settings.
There must be a registry setting somewhere that determines the position of the controller on the screen or if it is on top of the video window or not.

1) The player/controller has both a "Minimize" ("-") and a "Close" (X) option in its top right corner

2) I'm fairly certain that if you follow the previous information regarding setting what you refer to as the "viewer" to full screen, the player/controller will not be visible intially...

I am using the version bundled with nero 7 essentials, and if you go to fullscreen mode, it won't show up. My suggestions would be:
1) Use Fullscreen mode
2) Find what setting to change, if there is no such setting then email nero and ask if they could implement it.
3) Give in and try some other players (VLC, MPlayer (with a GUI of course), and MPC-HC all offer far better support of media files and are very simple to use)

Have you read the player's "Help" file - or the manual? Page 11 of the NERO Showtime manual states:

I have got this same answer from other people!
The control panel "I speak of" is in the picture a few posts up with a big red arrow pointing to it.
I am not trying to close the video window just get rid of that stupid thing that is on top of my video.
There is nothing in the help file about this, I would be more than happy for someone to prove me wrong but everybody just says "did you read the help file"
Let me explain this I am not just sitting watching a movie or I would use full screen mode.
I am opening up a VOB file with it then pausing it and capturing a frame to use for a printer label.
I might want to open 5 or 6 files in a minute.
If I were watching a movie I could deal with it.

@Stanman242
Then use DGIndex to capture your frames to bitmaps and print those, much easier and you don't have to deal with nero showtime. Alternatively VLC can do the same as nero showtime, and it can open encrypted dvds.

@Stanman242

You are quoting my Post #2 to this thread.

Have you CAREFULLY read my Post#8 to this thread? What you refer to as the "control panel" in your screen capture has its own "Minimize" and "Close" buttons.

And again, I'm fairly certain that if you follow the previous information regarding setting what you refer to as the "viewer" to full screen, the player/controller/control panel will not be visible initially.

Perhaps if you actually tried my suggestions...

Yeah, "it's own" minimize and close buttons minimize and close the video window and the stupid panel.

OK I tried your suggestions the controls are not visible "initially" but as soon as you take it off full screen it's right there on top of your video again.

I don't want it full screen, I don't want the stupid thing on top of my video, I guess somehow that's too much too expect from nero.

If you read the manuals for NERO ShowTime v.2 (Yours) and the subsequent releases (v.3 and 4) you'll see that the "control panel" of the newer versions includes a new, additional radiobutton (large arrowhead pointing up and to the left, combined with a small arrowhead pointing down and to the right), used for minimizing ONLY the "control panel".

It's gone!
I edited the .skn fileand changed the height value to zero.
[MainWnd]
Width = 592
Height = 0

No more skin, just the video window!:)
