Simple question. Is it possible at all? I guess not. I am 16 hours through encoding something and it says 9 more, but I badly need to briefly check into something completely else which needs full pc power. Obviously I don't want to lose 16 hours of encoding...

Thank you so much for your hearful and helpful advice.
It would probably take the same amount of time to very briefly say how (if yes) as it took to tell me to use search.

Search -> Advanced Search -> type in "pause encoding" into the Keywords field, set option underneath to "Search Titles Only" and click "Search Now" and nearly all of the top results are related to your question and have a solution for it.
Now, was this so time consuming? It was for me having to type up this...

you can pause the console window by pressing pause/break button on your keyboard. Use enter or space to continue
