I have converted some DVDs to MKV (Full Metal Alchemist Anime), the source is 29.97 fps and watching on the computer the interlacing is very distracting. It's my impression that these animes are drawn at 24 fps and then teliclined with 3:2 pulldown to create the 29.97 final product, so shouldn't IVTC give me back a perfect 24 fps with no interlacing? That was my impression anyway.
I opened ffdshow filters and turned on the avisynth filter and added "tfm().tdecimate()" Sure enough pan motion isn't as smooth, as you would expect, and 90% of the interlacing is gone, but there are still some times when I notice it. Whats the deal?
