Hi

I'm planning to build my own pc.
I noticed that there are many different shaped/sized motherboards.
How do I know if one particular motherboard will fit and is compatible with my case.
How do I know if the screws and the screw holes are in the same place.

Thanks!

The case info will list what motherboard(s) will fit. I picked one at random:

Scroll down a bit and you'll see the form factor listed as well as all the types that will fit.

There are standards in place that make sure your parts will fit together. Common standards include:

Cases:
Full (ATX)
Mid tower (ATX)
Micro ATX
BTX
etc...

Motherboards:
ATX
MicroATX
BTX
pico ATX
etc...

The ones you should pay attention to are MicroATX and ATX. Most likely you will be looking for a ATX motherboard and an Mid tower case. As CWR03 noted, read the case and motherboard specs if you are not sure. Likely you will also have some extra screw holes in your case that your motherboard will not use.
