View Full Version : Fake Framerate?

I need help, I don't really know if it's a hardware or software problem, but when I load an DVD into FlaskMPEG, it's detected w/ a framerate of NTSC 29.97. I set the movie res, and audio and vid codecs, and when I convert, the video pauses, just for a moment, about every 10 seconds, but about four minutes into the movie, the sound is already unsyncd. I got some advice to change the framerate, and force FlaskMPEG to covert the movie at 25 fps. I tested a short clip just to see if this works, and yea, it keeps the sound from unsyncing, but the sound skips, well not really skips, but kinda "hiccups" every so often. I've tried several different converters and if it's not one problem it's another, I've gotten program errors w/ the VPAI Codec Plugin for DVD2AVI so I've always fallen back on Flask or DVDx. But I can't force the framerate to 25 fps in DVDx, so that's thrown out.

FlaskMPEG 0.594 -AMD Optimized

AMD K6-2 333
192 SDRAM
12x DVD-ROM
8x4x32 CD-RW
TNT 2 32meg
10 gig primary
6 gig secondary

I know my system is low-end, but I built it mostly off parts I got off the side of the road, and only put about $200 into it, I've been able to convert DVDs just fine before, but now I'm running into all these problems. Any help, nominates you for a big o' chocolate chip cookie receipient.

Thanks
! Billy !

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! After messing around with some subtitling stuff, I figured out that after I ran the movie with the "hiccuping" audio through VirtulDub, the audio was remedied, and played smooth all the way through the movie. This may help solve some similar problems that anyone else is having. I still don't know if the problem was hardware, or software though. Oh well, can't complain now that it's fixed, right?
