If this is the wrong forum my apologies... Just let me know which one it should be in.. and I'll post there...
I have several M2TS files that are 1920x1080 at 25mbps that have 4 audio tracks in them. DD5.1 English, 5.1 French, Stereo Spanish, Commentary.
What I want to create is a HD MPG2 file or MPG4/h.264 with DD5.1 English Audio.
Why do I want to create this? So I can play it on my TiVo S3/HD unit, & store the file for future use on my 18tb NAS.
The TiVo S3/HD unit is capable of playin the M2TS/H.264 file if I rename the file with a .MP4 extension. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that & that would be just fine.
HOWEVER.... If I rename it... on SOME of the files the audio that will be played is the Stereo spanish, on others it plays the 5.1 French, and yet on other "Renames" it will play the commentary track.
Therefore I need some way of converting the M2TS files yet maintain full 1920x1080 video and be able to CHOOSE which audio track to encode into the HD-MPG2 file.
I have tried all the latest versions of the following programs with no luck.
Adobe Premier, Vegas Studio, Roxio, Corel VideoStudio, Nero 9, Pinnacle.
I am also open to converting (?) the M2TS file to MP2 file as well. If I am able to choose the DD5.1 track as well as maintain full 1920x1080 25mpbs video.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Gary

Try TsRemux: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125447

I do not think TsRemux can remux the AVC (H.264) and desired DD (AC3) track to MPG or MP4 (if I understand correctly) however it can remux to M2TS again, or TS, or demux them. tsMuxeR can do likewise, and eac3to can demux. HDTVtoMPEG2 should then be able to input TS and output MPG, and Yamb/MP4Box likewise TS to MP4.
One snag though is that DD is not part of the MP4 spec. So, if M2TS or TS with one DD track is fine for the TiVo when renamed, then perhaps stick with those (TS is slightly smaller and more widely supported). In which case, do simply use TsRemux or tsMuxeR in one step.

DD (AC-3) was recently included in the MP4 specs, but I doubt TiVo supports it yet.

Ah, cool.

Here's what I do know about the TiVo S3/HD
It is capable of recording 1920x1080i at bitrates up to 12mbps and encoding DD5.1, CC and Alternate audio track into a MPG2 file.
The TiVo is capable of playing back HD-MPG2 files with DD5.1 although there are some issues with CC and the Alternate audio track if NOT originally recorded on a TiVo.
Example... I can succesfully play back a SD-DVD that has been ripped and converted to MPG2 including the DD5.1 soundtrack.
It can playback h.264/MP4 with DD5.1 as I have named other M2TS files that I have & they played just fine.
The problem I am having is being able to choose which audio tracks I want to be in my MP4 & maintain the video track with no alterations.

I just tried... HDTVtoMPEG2 Didn't seem to work. My M2TS files are all AVCHD/h.264 files.
It is possible I might not have done something correctly either.

There's no need to remux to MP4 since TiVo can read TS files. TS allows you to keep both the original video and DD5.1 audio. TiVo probably doesn't support DD5.1 in MP4, so if you insist on changing the container, you'll probably have to convert audio to 2 channel AAC.
As we suggested, try tsMuxeR or TsRemux to remux to TS or M2TS without the unnecessary audio tracks.

Is a TS file and a M2TS file the same?
Whats the difference between tsMuxer and TSRemuxer?
Thanks

Is a TS file and a M2TS file the same? With one difference. M2TS has 4 bytes ahead of the sync byte, so the packet size is 192 instead of 188.

They are two different tools with somewhat similar feature sets. Try one of them and if it doesn't work or is hard to use, try the other. Both should be able to do what you need: remux the stream and keep only the chosen elementary streams.
