I've got backups of my collectible Walt Disney Treasure DVD's. My backups are on Verbatim DVD+R DL discs, widely accepted as some of the best DL media (at least a year or so ago when I made them). They're rated at 2.4x but you can burn up to 8x they are so good.

Anyway the backups play fine on all my DVD players, but not my PS3. I create the files using DVDFab (or DVD Decrypter) and burn using Nero. I don't mind re-burning the backups. I'm wondering if this is a media problem or does Sony have something up their sleeve as far as detecting Sony titles that are backups?

I've Googled the problem but mostly found discussions about regular 4.7GB DVD+R discs working fine and not very many people discussing movies on DVD+R DL DVD9 discs.

I should note the previews play, but it stops playing once it goes to load the main menu.

Thanks in advance for throwing me a bone on this one.

I determined the solution. Not sure what the problem is. It works as long as I rip and burn an ISO image of the disc using Nero (you could use of course imgbrn also). Not sure why burning an image work and ripping/burning all the video files doesn't, even when I use FixVTS. Something the PS3 doesn't like about it.
