okay, i've wrote something.
tested it only briefly, but i'm sure i'll find here lots of beta testers.
download BeSweet v1.1b from my site, and test.
usage :
-lame( --alt-preset fast )
-lame( --alt-preset standard )
-lame( --alt-preset extereme )
-lame( --alt-preset insane )
beware,
v1.1b comes with a modified lame_enc.dll !
btw, i also attached the modified source-code. (GPL).

I haven't tested BeSweet, but I think "--alt-preset fast" is invalid. It has to be used as "--alt-preset fast standard" or "--alt-preset fast extreme".
Are the ABR presets e.g. "--alt-preset 128" supported? I think they are more sensible for ripping than the VBR presets.

Nice work dude!
I can verify it worked absolutely perfect from an AC3:) I used the -alt-preset fast
EDIT-
@tangent
The ABR presets will work when someone hacks them into the DLL or we get a new stable release of the LAME DLL. Now that you mention the --fast might be invalid I went and checked my MP3 with EncSpot. EncSpot reports my MP3 is only 106 bitrate. That can't be the true -standard -fast. Any ideas?

the switch name isn't important. it could be -abcdEE1~~#2 as long as the user understand the meaning.
now, is there a REAL problem with the implementaion of the presets ?

I think something strange is going on.
[00:00:00:000] | Output Stereo mode: Dolby surround compatible
[00:00:00:000] | Total Gain: 4.4dB, Compression: Normal
[00:00:00:000] | LFE levels: To LR 0.0dB, To LFE 0.0dB
[00:00:00:000] | Center mix level: BSI
[00:00:00:000] | Surround mix level: BSI
[00:00:00:000] | Dialog normalization: No
[00:00:00:000] | Rear channels filtering: Yes
[00:00:00:000] | Source Sample-Rate: 48.0KHz
[00:00:00:000] +-------- LAME -------
[00:00:00:000] | 'alt fast' preset is used
[00:00:00:000] +---------------------
In no way should the --alt-preset fast standard ever give me an MP3 file thats only encoded at 106 bitrate. I'm going to do some more testing and see what happens. I've never tested the hacked Blade DLL that your using but I do know the CDEX DLL has worked in the past. I'll report my findings.

@DSPguru
Using BeSweet1.1b and beta15 of the GUI is definitely acting strange. Sometimes I don't get an MP3 file after the encoding using different --alt-presets. Using the insane setting is only giving me an mp3 that averages around 160k. Can this be right? Insane usually averages around 320k AFAIK.

you're right - something is wrong.
unfortunately, i don't have time to debug now. so will debug it when possible.
btw, about the r3mix preset,
i only implemented the alt presets. all other presets like r3mix/radio/cd/etc' are the original presets from the lame_enc.dll .
about the empty mp3 output file,
i guess i know where the problem is. but again, i'm not on my developing computer at the moment, can't fix it.
