i wonder if the breaking of impromptu benchmarks from a webboard user invalidated NDA dates or something, but *wrings hands eagerly* i think i see some Nehalem benches...!

at least he was so kind to have used x264. none of the reviews i've read so far used it...

For around $300 between an i7 920 and Q9550, the former will be about 12 percent faster in an encode whereas the clock for clock performance of the Q9450, the Core i7 920 is 18 percent faster.

Wow, on a clock-for-clock basis, thats a stunning improvement...

Why does x264 like the new chips so much? The extra, faster cache? The improved memory bandwidth?



BTW, HardOCP just did a bunch of gaming tests, and surprise surprise, the new chips did nothing. (right now, games are almost 100% GPU limited)
