View Full Version : "Audio is Corrupt" When Choosing CBR MP3

I've ripped many, many of my DVD's (a couple of hundred), generally using Constant Bitrate MP3 as the audio output for the resulting Xvid files, and have never had a problem. Now, however, if I choose CBR MP3 I get an error message saying that the "audio is corrupt" and the entire conversion fails.

I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1, and AutoGK 2.48. Switching the audio output to "variable bitrate MP3" solves the problem, but I'm wondering why this would happen after so many successful conversions. Uninstalling and reinstalling AutoGK did not fix the problem.

Any ideas on what's causing this, and/or how to fix it?

Your Lame file may be partially corrupted.

Thanks for the input. How would I fix that?

Download a new copy of "Lame_enc" from freecodecs.com and replace all the existing copies on your machine. At least one copy needs to be in the root of your "C" drive.

But do a search and replace all of them if any more exist. Some other programs may have put it in their own directory.

It worked! Found three instances of the file lame_enc.dll on my system, and replaced them all with new copies. The CBR option is working again. Thanks a lot for your help, budwzr!
