Hi,
I guess this is an experiment really, which I messed around with a while back and now want to play with again.
I've extracted the movie streams from Schindler's List which is a movie split onto 2 DVDs using VobEdit, resulting in 6 files; the 2 MPEG2 movie streams, the 2 AC3 audio, and the 2 subtitle SUP files.
Is it possible to join the video files together, the audio files together, and the subtitle files together, resulting in one file of the complete MPEG2, AC3, and SUP? Then I can re-mux these files using IfoEdit or suchlike.
Any advise would be welcome.
Many thanks.

I would try ripping them both with dvdshrink, then use reauthor mode to put them together as two titles on one disc.

I know this isn't quite what you've asked but the simplest way of achieving this is to just to rip the two discs then seamlessly join the two titlesets in DVD2One.
Far less steps involved, much easier and much quicker too.

Hi!
To readily do precisely what you've stated to be further experimentation, using the files you've ennumerated, use either DVDFlick (freeware) or TMPGEnc DVD Author (commercial). (With either program, make certain to set the two sets of files to be joined as ONE track/title)...

I agree. Another advantage with DVD2one is you don't have worry about the audio being out of sync during the 2nd half of the movie. Audio sync problems may occur sometimes when you join two movies and you would otherwise have to adjust it yourself.

Good point.
A lot of people have difficulties with audio sync issues and DVD2One avoids these problems.
It can also create extended titlesets and single files for media players from joined titlesets.
I've asked Jdobbs to consider adding compatibility with these extended titlesets into DVDRebuilder as it would add to the versatility of his program and enable production of high quality single disc versions of large two disc movies.
I haven't heard his thoughts on this yet but lets hope he thinks it's a useful enough feature to warrant adding it in.

Try this tutorial: Joining VOBs using VobEdit and IfoEdit (http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/test.htm).
