Hello all ! I have written a useful front-end for tsMuxer that converts .mkv to BD/AVCHD in an one-click fashion. You can download it from here :

http://users.hol.gr/~vpapanik/QuickMuxIt13.zip

QuickMuxIt v1.3 by vpapanik (c) 2008-2009
-----------------------------------------

QuickMuxIt is a small front-end utility to tsMuxeR,
including extra capabilities which make .mkv to Blu-Ray
conversion easier for everyone, especially PS3 owners
and Greek-subtitle lovers :)

Usage :

On the first time, declare the location of tsMuxeR.exe
using the 'open' button. The default location is
C:\Program Files\tsMuxeR\tsMuxeR.exe.

Just drag'n'drop an .mkv file in the 'File Information' panel
and press the big button on the bottom to start conversion.

Options :

All options are saved in QuickMuxIt.ini, so there is
no need to set them again every time (like in tsMuxer GUI !).

- Subtitle font : Default is Arial.

- Subtitle color : Default is white.

- Font size for 720p and 1080i/1080p resolutions :
Defaults are 40px and 60px respectively.

- Distance from bottom for 720p and 1080i/1080p resolutions :
Defaults are 30px and 45px respectively.

- Remove subtitle tags : This option removes bold, italic and
underline tags from .srt subtitles, which are not yet
supported by tsMuxeR. Note that the original .srt file
is not altered in any way.

- Create AVCHD structure : Renames certain files in
the BD structure, in order to be played by the PS3 system,
using an external hard drive or flash disk (no need for
DVD burning). In order to achieve this. you have to place
BDMV and CERTIFICATE directories inside an 'AVCHD' directory
on the root of an external hard drive or flash disk.

- Context menu : Adds QuickMuxIt in the context menu.
You can right-click an .mkv file and select 'QuickMuxIt'.

Notes :

- When the program is first run, it creates a context
menu entry, so next time you can just right click on
an .mkv file and select 'QuickMuxIt'.

- The BD/AVCHD structure (BDMV and CERTIFICATE directories)
are placed inside a new directory, in the same place and
with the same filename as the .mkv file.

- When an .mkv file is opened, essential information
appears on the top panel. If .srt subtitles are present
(having the same filename as the .mkv file), they are
automatically added and recognized as English (Latin)
or Greek. Moreover, the contents of the tsMuxer metafile
(used for conversion) are shown.

Version History :

v1.3 (06/01/2009) : Added support for DTS sound and user
selectable context menu.

Hope you find this utility useful ! Any comments or suggestions are mostly welcome :)

I've been looking for something like this, thanks!

Some thoughts I have that would make it more useful for me and possibly others are:
- support srt in mkv, tsmuxer handles this ok
- sup support for 1080p input only
- multiple subtitle stream support
- multiple audio stream support
- read chapters from mkv, might require something like: mkvextract > convert text to tsmuxer format > input in tsmuxer
- when AVCHD format is set, put in AVCHD directory
- option to not split at 4GB
- option to split at a defined size, example: 9GB mkv outputs to 2 DVD5's, separate BDMV or AVCHD directories for each
- interface with imgburn to allow for quick imaging or burning of the BD and maybe AVCHD if there's a logical reason to put on DVD\BD
- selectable output directory
- estimated output size, possible?

one major set back for me is that the majority of films around in mkv format are not 1920x1080 or 1280x720, they have been cropped to remove the bars meaning the video need encoding to include those bars and to correct the resolution

Around here we work with our own source files, and do not discuss what others have made available.

or you could just download FULL 720P/1080P video, even though they are sometimes 100%+ bigger than the cropped ones

if there's no subtitles, just use mkv2vob for cropped videos.

it's always up to you, either re-transcode it or download FULL 720P/1080P video, make your "clever" one :D

Apparently you do not understand gentle hints, so we must be blunt. Discussion of downloaded material is not permitted on doom9 forums. See rule #6 (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) and This announcment (http://forum.doom9.org/announcement.php?f=6)

Your line of posting is associating mkv, and QuickMuxIt, with illegal activity. It would be a shame to have to close the thread and prohibit further discussion of QuickMuxIt.

I would try searching the registry for this --

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shell\...

Then look for the name of the program where the ... are. Give it a try.

How to get rid of that? It's there on any filetype. Not just on .mkv.

There was no option to turn that on. Nor is there to turn it off.

How to get rid of it now?

Yah this has become big headache lately!!

Don't understand why it is done that way, now I have to figure out how to convert these MKV to AVCHD. When I convert using tsmuxer I get green bar at bottom meaning these videos are not Bluray video complaint. so have to some black bars to correct.

Does this tool correct it?
