Rendering Failed!! what's the rendering failed mean, this damn problems appears twice, all make me cant but restore the system ghost every time.

The source is a common AVI file with normal Xvid video and normal MP3 audio.

I can open it with AVISource("clip") ,but DirectShowSource("clip") can not!!!

I can open and edit it in VirtualDub.

I also can play it well with Kmplayer / MPlayer / MPC / MPC-HC ...., but WMP can not!

I put it in GraphEdit, got this info:
- Have you installed all necessary filters?
- Note that the 'Render File' menu option cannot render *.GRF files.
The media type of this file is not recognized. (Return code: 0x80040240)

I checked this error code on Msdn, the same result but no useful:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms783645(VS.85).aspx#hresultvaluesspecifictodirectshow
VFW_E_UNKNOWN_FILE_TYPE / The media type of this file is not recognized. / 0x80040240

So I put it in GSpot,
I can handle it by click the Vid / Aud button, but MS A/V can not:
Rendering Failed.Following is the error reported by DirectShow:
0x80040240: [unknown]
http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/5/16/1915522/bigerror.png
I did another test:
The source is a Standard WMV file, WMV1+WMA2
I can play it with any mediaplayer I have...
But use the script DirectShowSource("clip") get the same error:
DirectShowSource:Could not open as video or audio.
The same error in GraphEdit and GSpot.

Of cource I hv uninstall the ffdshow and AviSynth, and restart my computer , then get full new install with ffdshow and avisynth.

I'm really tired with this problem, anyone can help pls? Thanks!

Sorry about that.. english is not my mother languege, so I think that just is modal particle before :-(
In accordance with your instructions, I put a normal avi file in VirtualDub, encode with ffdshow default setting Mpeg4 Xvid + Mp3.
unfortunately even the file encode by myself , I still cant open with DirectShowSource...All the same result....

source file is common AVI file, it mean Divx/Xvid + mp3 , I change many tpye to test, and I'm sure the problem should not form the Source.
