Hello! I live in the US and have a DVD-ROM that is probably set to region 1.

Is there a way for me to rip a region 2 PAL DVD? I have been looking for this thing FOREVER and I finally found it!

Will my version of windvd even be able to play it?

Thanks very much.

If your drive is R1 locked, then you are SOOL as they say. I live in R2 what are you trying to rip?

Salo 120 Days of Sodom.

It's widely available as a R2 DVD.

The R1 DVD is an out of print criterion edition that sells for hundreds of USD.

Go and get yourself a region free firmware update from www.firmware.fr.st - Then you'll be able to do what the hell you like with it :)

As long as the drive isn't RPC2, the DVD in my laptop is an LG DRN-8040 which is locked and there is NO firmware for it. my deskptop is a Pioneer and I was able to "downgrade" to RPC1.

Ok, so if there is no firmware available for your drive, simply rip it off using a program that uses Win I/O to read the files.
SmartRipper should do the trick!
I've heard SmartRipper has problems authenticating discs from other regions, in which case, use DVD Decrypter 3 to do the authentication bit.
DVD Decrypter 3 is 100% ASPI I/O so unfortunatly it wont rip dvds from regions different to that of your drive.
