View Full Version : Synch Problem

Hey
I tried to make a multilingual DivX Movie for the first time.
So I made the AVI first with XMpeg (25fps, bitrate 1900, 16:9, no audio)
Then I extracted the two Audiostreams form the VOB Files(I tried many different programs and converting them into Mp3 or WAV).
But everytime i join AVI and the Audiostreams (with NanDub) they are out of synch :(
I tried different settings for interleaving as well.
Joining the AVI and the original AC3 stream didn't work either.
So i don't have any more ideas ... :(
Somebody can help???

did you adjust the offsets for both tracks individually? there have been many cases where both audio tracks had an offset.. and it was different.. most people don't even bother with offsets but you should.. especially in the azid/lame case

What exactly do you mean with offset? Never heard of it :(
Excuse me for my ignorance ;)

When you de-mux the audio from the vob files, look
at the name of the .ac3 file and it will end with
something like "DELAY -257ms.ac3"
In this case, the delay is negative 257 milliseconds,
and when you mux in Nandub, go to Audio->Interleaving
(or press CTRL-I), and at the bottom of the window
that pops up is a box "Delay audio track by", which is
where you enter that value (ex. -257).
You have to do it for BOTH tracks - they will often
have DIFFERENT offsets!

Thx for your Tip! But the files say DELAY 0 ms :(
I read something about a bug in the Frauenhofer MP3 Codec. Is it possible that this is the reason for the Synchproblem.
I also tried the Radium Codec, which should compensate the bug with no success :( But i already made some movies without any problems!

What app are you using to de-mux the audio?
dvd2avi is probably the easiest and a very
widely accepted way to do this, plus there
are plenty of guides to help you...

I tried Dvd2Avi, VStrip and Vob2Audio ...
The audio itself should be fine.
Is there an easy way to find out how many ms of delay I should use?

So I finally made it to get the movie synchronized ;)
I tried some different settings for DELAY and all between -280 to -500 work perfectly :)
So I'll try another DVD soon to test this setting ...

Those values won't automatically work for your
next movie, unless it is coincidentally offset
by a similar value. There is no magic offset
value, it's simply gunna be whatever they used
when they made the dvd.
If your audio track is delayed, something like
dvd2avi should really have given you the right
value in the file name; were your settings all
per norm as in the doom9 guide? Also, there are
some good manual synching ideas at:

I used exactly the same settings as in the guide. And because they didn't work i tried some different one.
Thx for the link and if there is a problem with the next movie i know where to ask ;)
