I has clearing my LCD monitor and when searching for stains on screen just notice RGB subpixel pattern on it :) And if I focus closely with one eye I can clearly see it, but in about 0.5cm spot from 30cm distance :) Although I can't clearly separate colors — half of it looks like white, one (probably red) as brown and others as mix of colors.
And now I see it everywhere on white and grey background and it bothers me :)

Looking at my second CRT monitor subpixel pattern looks like diagonal (or pyramidal).

Can anyone else notice it? :)

Yes but I never took the time to check my HD LCD and... I just did and it has rows of millions of small indecernable pixels that are all of different colours of what they try to portray as a picture... Each pixel is dedicated to its own colour... Square by the way

Like the name by the way... Quantum physics is a fancy of mine. If only I could get my head around the math...

***Edit I find that if you put a water droplet onto the screen it magnifies it enough to see the pixels clearly... jsyk :p

Just point ya Digicam in macro mode on the screen n you'll see (http://soulhunter.chronocrossdev.com/data/Macro_001.jpg) amazing (http://soulhunter.chronocrossdev.com/data/Macro_004.jpg) things (http://soulhunter.chronocrossdev.com/data/Macro_005.jpg)! ;D

or you can use a magnifying glass
or spray a little bit of water onto ur screen
some good cameras also do the job

the pixels in lcd's are made of three vertical rectangles. usually, red is on the left, green is in the middle, and blue is on the right.
the pixels in crt's are triangular, but every other pixel is inverted to that the pixels fit together nicely

I mean I can almost see that WITHOUT any tools, just by eye :) Hope high-resolutions display and OS support will coming soon.

Then you have some very sharp eyes, or the DPI of your screens is kinda low...

LCD's will only be around for a few more years, after that OLED displays should be developed and cheap enough to replace them. OLED uses much less power, has a full colour range (LCD's don't), can display 'true blacks' in the sense of like CRT and plasma, so has an extremely high contrast ratio, respond instantly, none of this 2/5/8ms response time, can potentially have a much higher resolution and size, and is a lot thinner than LCD. I can't remember the name but apparently there's also a new type of rear projection display that is the same as the above features (except the thickness) and is bright like a normal display and works much better in light conditions than current rear projections. Due to the nature of it, it should give an even 'cleaner' look that OLED (and certainly LCD/plasma/CRT), and not have costly repairs that current rear projections have when the globe blows... :)

The lifetime of these OLED TVs is apparently horrible.

Blue degraded by 12% in only 1000 hours!

I still hope we will see some SEDs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface-conduction_Electron-emitter_Display) in future! :\
