How can I get Windows Media Player 8 to play SVCDs and MPEG-2 videos??? I've tried some of the MPEG-2 codecs for WMP, but they seem to play too slow or the video would look PAL-like.

I know there's other players available that play MPEG-2 videos, but I really want to stick with WMP as my main player. It plays every format and media very well (even DivX) except SVCD and MPEG-2 videos. It just seems to make sense to stick with it to me.

Thanx in advance

Try getting a proper player for MPEG2 - PowerDVD/WinDVD. Why? Much better controls than what WMP gives you (esp. 7.x/8).

Ya, I do use PowerDVD/WinDVD for MPEG-2 playback, but I rather use WMP since everything else works in it. The controls are not a concern for me. Just wanna playback, that's all.

There's no better/proper codecs for WMP for MPEG-2 playback?

Thanx in advance

with powerdvd and or windvd installed on your system the mpeg2 codecs should also be installed in your system, so wm should work, i use wm from time to time to check my rips when complete
