I've got one of the Hauppauge HD-PVR recorders, and would like to find a player that will start playing the .ts file while it is still recording. Most all of them will play the .ts file, but will stop at the point it was at when the player started. If I've been recording for say 5 minutes then start playback, it will play up to the 5 minute mark and then end.
Are there any players that will just keep playing like DVR/PVRs do?

I haven't tested it with ts files, but probably mplayer can do it.
At least it can play videos (avi) still being written by mencoder.

VLC certainly can, I do this all the time with it.

I haven't tried the latest version of VLC, but I can't even play the current 1080i/264 ts files at all, it just locks up and quits working.

0.8.6 didnt supported interlaced H.264, so 0.9.2 should be much better in that case

Haven't had a chance to try mplayer yet, and VLC is much better, but I guess I don't have enough horsepower to play back the 1080i files. It's much better than previous versions, it's just too CPU intensive for my PC to keep up with. I've got an AMD X2-6000+ and it plays most files pretty well, VLC just can't do it.
I noticed in the settings that it had a setting for codecs, I assume that only refers to the codecs that are included with VLC?
It's frustrating because with the Arcsoft player included with the HD-PVR I can play the completed .ts files with under 10% CPU smooth as silk. Of course it's utilizing the video card's acceleration.
