I am backing up my HD DVD collection onto my HTPC and would like to save some hard drive space. I took a HD DVD and was able to demux the EVO so that i had a ddp audio file and vc1 video file. The extension for the video file is .vc1. Now i have tried h264enc without sucess to encode the vc1 to h264. I was able to use ffmpeg to encode the video to h264 but i don't know the "in and outs" of ffmpeg to get high enough quality. Can anyone suggest either a ffmpeg cmd line options or another program / script.

Thanks

Mike

Perhaps you might find (http://rob.opendot.cl/index.php/useful-stuff/ffmpeg-x264-encoding-guide/) some of these websites (http://ffmpeg.x264.googlepages.com/mapping) to be useful (http://rob.opendot.cl/index.php/useful-stuff/x264-to-ffmpeg-option-mapping/).
