with some videos, at the very bottom of the screen, theres a small strip across that shows whatever is behind the player. for example, if i go fullscreen, it shows the bottom of my desktop (start button, taskbar etc.). seems like its just movies with black bars, because if i stretch the video (~2:35 AR on a 16:9 display) to full the top and bottom, it goes away, and if i set it back to the original AR, it stays normal. if i use any other renderer, its fine (however i have tearing issues with other renderers).
also, with other renderers like VMR9 or haali's, instead of the small strip at the bottom showing whats behind, i see a strip (about the same size) but its just a kind of blurred strip of the video being played. its hard to explain, and i can't really take a proper screenshot of either case.
using overlay mixer with some videos also causes really bad screen tearing when i go to fullscreen. most movies are fine however. seems to be with some mp4/h264 videos using the internal H264 DXVA filter, because if i switch to coreavc, it plays fine.
i have a 780G/HD3200 IGP video card using the latest Catalyst drivers and winXP SP3. seems like its hard to find the perfect renderer for ATI cards. overlay renderer is fine with most videos, and system default works well with everything, however its obviously not the best choice.
edit: for the 'blurred' problem at the bottom of the screen, i took a screencap. its like this for the entire bottom part of the screen. this happens with some videos using haali or system default renderer.
