Hi!
I used VirtualVCR for capturing TV in a project I worked in 2/3 years ago. Since then I've not been capturing a lot, so I don't know if any new program for capturing has appeared.
VirtualVCR was easy and simple, and it included command line recording (a must for my project). But I noticed it hasn't been updated since 2006. Is there any new program with similar features?
Regards!

What is "better", what is "new"?
Try VirtualDub instead.

'Better' can be subjective. I'm looking for a program similar to Virtual VCR. Basic features for capturing, good quality and command line recording options.
'New': since 2006, the period of time I've been away from capping
I've been testing with iuVCS. Good results and command line recording, but it's shareware :S
Does VirtualDUB support command line executing and recording?
Thanks for your answer!!

virtual vcr was better at audio video sync compared to virtualdub and could use WDM drivers. Virtualdub capturing has improved since then and it can now use WDM drivers. Try it out.

Since I'm a firm believer in, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.", I'd ask you - Is there anything regarding capturing that VirtualVCR (despite it not being "brand new") can't do for you?

Well to make a long story short I had to start over from scratch when it came to NOT being captured... Anywho... Learned alot the last few days for a reconfig... ChrisTV is a VirtualVCR on steroids, can do lowres mpeg2 with InterVideoSDK.zip pretty good, still trying to get it to do dvd quality still having probs. Went back to Virtual DUB No display 640x480(720x480 prob works with ease, since no dropped frames) using huffyuv 2.1.1 codec(lost my mjpeg key somewhere). Capture uncompressed audio too. Convert to DIVX, lost my XVID config, with a quantizer of 3, and mp3 160 44khz and you can full display it at 1024x768(probably greater) from a 320x240 source & see a better output result... or convert that huffyuv avi with TMPGEnc any version to mpeg2 with same file sizes for dvd usage conversions if yah tweak it can look as good as divx(just takes longer)... Just some capture cards dont allow preview, it may have been my dx9c upgrade that fudged it, but u can still hear the audio to know when to stop. Great for short clips or use the vdub timer... Anywho converting to dvd is possible if you have the patience with a composite source with a cheapo card... peace

I found the opposite - VirtualDub could maintain sync where VirtualVCR would lose it.
