View Full Version : Xmpeg 4.2a -- no openDML?

Hi folks.
I've used the older versions of flask, and with all the new features available in xmpeg, I wanted to switch over.
However, no matter what I seem to try (I've installed several times and played around with settings to make sure I'm not goofing), the only output format available to me is 'avi plugin' -- no opendml avi [like I want]. This seems to go MUCH slower than my older version of flask [using the opendml], so I was hoping someone could help me out here, as all tutorials always make it clear that the opendml option should be there right form the get-go.
Thanks, and have a great day!

I have the same problem. I dont have that option either (Open DML Avi). All i have there is the Avi plugin. Let me u know if u found the answer to this problem

hehe, I finally figured it out.
I had tried this approach before, but windows with its stupid simplicity [trying to make everything so nice & neat] was causing me the trouble.
copy the opendml file from your old flask directory [i'm assuming you've used another version] to the new one, and tack on a .xmpeg at the end [be sure to take off the old .flask ending, which was my problem -- windows was hiding the extension]. once you do that, you'll have opendml as an option.
Have a nice day everyone -- and I must say that I am a bit disappointed that no one would help me resolve this...i've posted this same problem a while back and no one ever responded to me.
Anyway, ttyl.

Im going to try this. I'm pretty it will work since it worked with u. Does ur Xmpeg sometimes cause an error making it to close?

haha, ironic as it is, just last night [had it compressing while i was sleeping], it crashed.
Kind of upsetting, considering how long of a process it is...but divx is by no means an exact science [yet!].

What version did u have before u got XMPEG? I got the older version of Flask( 0.594) and it doesnt have that option or setting (open dml avi)? How come?

that's odd.
Well, I had the .06 preview version...so maybe download that & you'll find it there.
lol, the trouble we go through for our divx...

Thanx for the great help man, everything seems to work superb now, but except one thing. When i select OpenDML AVI Output option, i go back and select the 4th option now(Output plugin options), i do that and a window appears that lets me select a codec but thats it. It doesnt have the other part where it lets me change the variable bitrate mode to 2-pass, first pass and this is what i need to do in order for it to work correctly. Any thoughts?

By any chance do u know how to do a 2-pass encoding process using Flaskmpeg 0.594 or 0.600(preview) cause i also want to learn how to do them using these also.

As far as I know, Flask will only do a 1-pass encoding. YMMV, but in many cases that's plenty good enough for me, if the bitrate is set high enough the DiVX always comes out looking pretty good. I'm thinking about switching to GKnot, but haven't yet (I don't want to clog up my system/registry with dozens of proggies when I only encode rarely).
