Hello,
Newbie here to doom9, but not new to Divx, vcd, svcd etc. Just wanted to chime in and compliment the author (and the community as a whole I guess) for how far things have come. Several years ago (mid to late 90's) I tried to get into the whole scene and was never successful (must have been that damned Win98!) in creating anything.
With the DVD2SVCD software I made my first successful SVCD last night and it plays beautifully!! I'll be making a donation immediately! My thanks to the author/authors and to doom9 for running such an informative site!

I was looking at dvd2svcd 1.0.1 beta 11 bundle (July 28, 2001) today and trying to think of all the new features which have been added since then. None of these existed back then:
-Internal routine chapter selection capability.
-Automatic largest .ifo file selection
-Crash Recovery
-Title and Change CD Pic
-Downloading of Title Pic
-True SVCD subtitles
-Editing Avisynth
-Temporal Smoother
-CCE parameters (linear, upper,etc.)
-Auto-detect AZID gain offset
-DVD original chapters
-Fixed DVD chapters
-Submux
-BeSweet
-AVI2SVCD
-PVA2SVCD
-Finalize
-Priority for all programs
-Deinterlace
-CD Overlap
-Startup Delays
-Subtitles Position
-Unchecking of Min Avg. Bitrate
-Create .vaf file
sure I missed a ton too
also programs that have come and gone are:
-Tsunami MPEG Encoder
-I-Author
-CDMage
-Madwav
-wave delay adjuster (forgot name)
So that's in what 4 1/2 months. Not too shabby. Great hard work by DVD2SVCD. If you want more I'd suggest donating to encourage cool stuff like this.

I knew there have been many changes, but I never thought there were that many.
Out of all of them for me Crash Recovery is the greatest advancement.
What a godsend. If I want to tweak something after the encode is done, have a power failure, computer crash, alien ship hit my house, whatever I don't have to do the whole thing over again. I don't know how many hours that has saved me.
I said it in another post, but I think it is still just as relavent. I don't think DVD2SVCD ever sleeps. With the pace of improvements that have been happening it just isn't possible.
I don't know if everyone knows this or not, but just incase you don't DVD2SVCD the program is written by ONE man, not an army of coders.
Thanks for everything DVD2SVCD I wish I had money to donate to your fund, because you have sure earned it.
