View Full Version : DVDshrink - Defaulting to last path?

Hello, I'm a long time shrink user. I don't like to post about trivial things, but I have a situation where on occasion DVDshrink forgets the last path it used and I have to enter in manually or click many path boxes. Then suddenly, it'll start working again without me knowing why. Can someone enlighten me to why this happens and how to reset it? I figure it must save this info somewhere?

Check your registry settings. Do you do a registry clean and remove usage tracks? If so, this will exhibit that behaviour.

Anyway, the reg key is HKCU\Software\DVD Shrink

@flambot

Hi!

If I remember correctly, this may also happen when/if you delete the "Analysis Results" files from your "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DVD Shrink" folder...

Thx guys for the help. Unfortunately, I haven't done any of these things. I did wonder later if I had a situation where I was close to the RAM limits??? (was doing a lot of different things at the same time). I don't know alot about this sort of thing. I checked the registry as blutach pointed to, but the listings didn't show the path that it was defaulting too. Very odd. Even more strange, it will do this for a time, then go back to how it should work. Computers...sometimes they have a mind of their own :).

It's just a small thing, but quite painful when writing out to a network path. Looks like cut & Paste will have to suffice until it comes back to reality.

writing out to a network pathYou failed to mention this in your initial post to this thread. I have nothing specific in mind but, perhaps your network setup is the root cause of your on again/off again problem...

Thx again for the comments. You could very well be right. However, the network paths are stored in the registry. Guess I'll have to live with it for the moment. There are probably more important things to worry about :)
