I've just encoded Harry Potter 1 with MeGUI has just finished and even on a bitrate of 8000 I still get artefacts from time to time, is this normal?

its not like this all the time, just occasionally when the film cuts from one scene to another.

This is the info on the generated MKV file...

Upload a sample clip of the source where you get the artfacting but make sure you can reproduce the problem with the sample first before you upload it. use media fire to upload the sample keep it as small as possible

What is broken in r964? Is it mentioned somewhere in the changelog or in some post here? Thank you.

EDIT:
If someone is looking for the explanation, this page and the following: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=130364&highlight=r964&page=48

again... it was definatly not megui related but just my fault coz i updated x264 in the auto-update server (after i tested it with 3 encodes and it worked...).

Ah, which would explain why it worked fine when I ran the same clip through RipBot. Anyway, It looks like I'll be using RipBot from now on anyway, it does everything I needed meGUI for and it seems to be a bit quicker for some unknown reason! 8fps vs 6fps on the 2nd pass.

And I was wondering why did I get occasional green image in my recent encodes few days ago :)

it depends on the encoder settings used... both ripbot and megui use x264 as encoder (maybe different builds though) and both are GUIs, so both wont affect the encoding speed...

Yeah, I noticed some bad artifacts on 720p encoding these days. Luckily, I didn't exclude the .ts, hehe.

these days? the x264 build of the buggy revision was up for just few hours...
