I got a problem with playing back the files I recorded in our satellite recorder/receiver:

When I try to play standard definition files in MplayerC it crashes ... I tried remuxing those files converting them to mkv nothing really changes anything it just crashes

VLC Player on the other hand works fine

Now when I try to play high definition files from BBC HD in VLC Player it crashes ... Also tried remuxing those files etc. but still it just keeps crashing

Media Player Classic on the other hand works fine here

Now my question would be ... Why is it like that?

I tried reinstalling both, getting the latest ffdshow and haali splitter all the kinds of things you could need but it still keeps crashing

Its not that much of an issue since I can play it back fine with one of the two but still I would like to find out where the source of the problem lies

Hi!

The playback inconsistencies between the two players is due to the fact that VLC uses its own internal codecs/filters, while Media Player Classic uses the codecs/filters you've installed on your system...

I kind of know that the problem is I wonder why my normal system codecs can't play the standard definition files then = /
