@all,

I've just ordered a Tower CPU-Cooler, which is more efficient to cool my QuadCore. I've chosen to be this one :

A friend of mine would like to give some help with the installation as I never did this before. I need to drive with the car for about 30 minutes. Is there any way to do this safe or would you recommend not to drive with a fully installed Tower-CPU cooler at all ?

The store where I ordered my PC did not install a Tower CPU-cooler because of safety reasons, but this PC was sent by postal service.

Thanks in advance.

The USPS is brutal to packages, you should be able to safely transport it yourself.

Just make sure that its laying on its side, mobo down, so that the tower cooler is upright. Put it on a carseat, NOT in the trunk, and pad the seat with a pillow or big fluffy comforter.

Thanks for your fast reply. I will do this and keep it safe from any vibrance. So there won't be any problem at all with HDD's or optical drives ?

Shoudn't be, but I make no promises.

Drives are designed to survive relatively hard shocks and vibration, but that doesn't mean it will. Electronic equipment is flakey, and sometimes it just fails.

Just don't forget to take any CD/DVDs out before you shut it off to move it.

@Dr.Khron/all

Project "Safe Transport" was very successful. I did it yesterday. I had a blanket on the backseat and a very flexible pillow where I laid the PC with mainboard down at. Everything was fine, even after the installation of the big CPU-cooler. I returned home safely and the PC as well.

After 15 minutes with PRIME95, I was about 46-48° Celsius and that were about 20° celsius less then with the great "certified" Intel CPU-cooler :-)
