Hi Everyone,

I was using WMP 11 , on my WinXpPro SP3 computer , to play a ripped DVD which contained a DTS sound track . My Dell computer speakers consist of 2-fronts and a sub-woofer , which all hook up to my Creative sound card via a single wire .
I checked DTS on ffdshow audio decoder , and to my surprise I was getting DTS playback . Which was a pleasant surprise , because I was un able to do so with Nero Show time ,without buying a Nero DTS plug in .
The next move in my experiment was to attempt to get more channel separation from 2- fronts and sub-woofer. To get more of a surround effect from my speakers. So I went back to ffdshow audio decoder , and checked mixer , normalize matrix ,LFE and 2/0/1 surround for speaker output .
And all I got was a rumbling sound out of my speakers. I also tried these mixer settings with LFE crossover selected , but with the same rumbling sound output. And also while I was experimenting with different ffdshow audio decoder settings during DVD playback , my computer crashed and rebooted . In spite of the fact I paused the DVD playback before changing any ffdshow audio decoder settings.
I plan to soon upgrade to a 5.1 computer speaker system , but for now with my current computer speaker set-up ( 2-fronts and a sub with a single wire hook up for all 3) , what is the best ffdshow audio decoder settings I could use to get the most of a surround effect from my speakers ? And what is the best freeware media player I could use for DVD playback ?
And also playback of Netflix on line movies ?
Thanks !

If the whole system crashed it means that there was a driver problem. Update your audio driver.
