Hi, i just encoded a short high motion clip of off a DVD (frameserved using DVD2AVI and AVIsynth) with CCE using the best settings (to my knowledge) using CBR at 2498Kbps and then encoded with Ligos standalone encoder 3.5 using VBR with a constant quantization scale of 1 and a max bitrate of 2498 and i think it actually looks better quality using the Ligos encoder although the bitrate is never higher then in CCE (i used BitRate Viewer to check).
I thought CCE gave best results until now, and i wanted to make sure it does look slightly better and that im not just going nuts :)
Also i found that encoding using CBR at 2498 in Ligos standalone looked worse then encoding with the above settings although the bitrate never goes higher then 2498, i found this VERY wierd also.
Maybe i am missing something on the understanding of how mpeg2 files work, but that seems strange to me.
Can anyone verify this for me? or is it just my eyes tricking me ? :confused:
