View Full Version : Megui Fraps Errors

I'm trying to encode a Fraps vid capture using Megui, but Megui crashes whenever I select the input video in the AviSynth Script Editor.
I'm using Vista 64 in case 64bit OS is messing things up.
Ideally, I would just use Divx or Xvid, but I can't seem to get the quality I want using those codecs in Virtualdub. I would like to get the same quality and compression as: Nihilum Vid (http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=69983) which uses Divx and raw fraps audio. I'm not sure how they were able to get it so clear, yet maintain a decent file size.

How do I do that? The whole program just crashes and exits.

there is a log folder...maybe you will find some files in it.

I can't see anything in the log that would help, but here it is:

@yelnatsch - you have to enable FRAPS in the ffdshow video configuration, if you are using DirectShowSource(). (At least it works for me in XP, not sure about Vista)

@Kurtnoise, you can find fraps samples @ mplayer sample clips hosting site

My fraps files are freaking huge because fraps records with almost no compression. 1min 41s of vid comes out to 4gb so I can't really upload anything. I changed Fraps in the ffdshow configuration, but it still crashes.
I got everything to work in AVIdemux though. Now I'm just curious as to why MeGUI would crash.

grab GraphStudio (http://blog.monogram.sk/janos/tools/monogram-graphstudio/) and open your file with it...which decoder do you see ?
I got something like that on my vista :

So, I'm able to open the file in the avisynth creator without crashes...

avidemux doenst rely on directshow. megui does. so if something is borked in your directshow subsystem, the consequencies are obvious...

Are you able to playback your fraps .avi properly in a DirectShow player, such as MPC? If you can, then it might not a be DirectShow problem, rather something else on your system

Yup, I can play it back just fine in MPC. I have a feeling it has something to do with AVIsynth because the crash occurs when I load the video in the avisynth editor part of Megui. Megui crashes regardless of what vid file I put into it, not just the fraps vid capture.
What's weird is, I have no problems loading the fraps vid into AVIdemux's avisynth editor, avsproxy.

If crashes occur with every file type, try uninstalling and reinstalling MeGUI, and double check the program paths are correct in the configuration

and update it to the latest version...
