If I open an AVS script in virtualdub and then proceed to add filters to the processing mode. When I run the job will it use the script and its filters as well as the loaded Virtualdub filter ?
I have run the Virtualdub frameserver.

When I run the job will it use the script and its filters as well as the loaded Virtualdub filter? Yes, but couldn't you discover that yourself with a simple experiment?

In the stuff I have read most of it refers to using file->start frameserver to do this and I couldn't see why I would need to do that.

This is for VirtualDubMod, which is a massively archaic piece of software and which I don't think you need anyway. Just get a proper VirtualDub and open your script like you would any other file.
