View Full Version : Megui PS3 encoder settings don't work

I just wanted to bring to the forums attention that the latest Megui x264 encoder settings under the profile:

Standalone PS3-Xbox360

cause colorful blocking and is most likely due to the setting RDO for B-frames.

Here's the CommandLine for the Profile:

program --pass 2 --bitrate 1000 --stats ".stats" --level 4.1 --ref 3 --mixed-refs --bframes 3 --b-rdo --bime --weightb --direct auto --subme 6 --trellis 1 --partitions p8x8,b8x8,i4x4,i8x8 --8x8dct --ipratio 1.1 --pbratio 1.1 --vbv-bufsize 9000 --vbv-maxrate 24000 --qcomp 0.5 --me umh --merange 12 --threads auto --thread-input --progress --no-psnr --no-ssim --output "output" "input"

It's better if you check the version of x264 which is right now installed on your PC ... there's been a problem with r940 (see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1172973#post1172973)), if it's that it's better that you update it (r941 - where the reported bug has been fixed - has already been committed to MeGUI update pool).

If you already have a fixed version, that your bug report remains valid.

I have the fixed version r941, so my complaint is valid.

the profile is unchanged since some time, so that's not the problem.
RDO for B-Frames is there from ages. check your source and the decoder you're using.

what x264 version you used and why you added --no-b-adapt to the preset (mine doesnt include it!!!)?

problem: --[Error] An error occurred: x264 [error]: invalid argument: no-b-adapt = (null)
it has nothing in common with the previous user problem.

that was not necessary. however the problem with --no-b-adapt is going to be fixed.
