I have Xvid and mpeg2 video files that have adverts and other unwanted parts in it them. I want to be able to delete all of these parts in all of my videos and preferably without the quality or settings of the original video being altered. What software can I buy that'll allow me to do this?

You mean like FBI warnings and adverts? Ive removed those using this guide and pgcedit:

Though that guide is typically for ripped dvd's, i cant say for sure if it actually removes parts of a video file (i doubt it), but in that case i would assume you would have to edit it out, which would mean you might want to uncompress it, edit, export, then recompress it back into mpeg2, which is probably a better alternative to just editing mpeg2.

AVI Demux - $0.00...I frame accurate, MPEG2 or XviD or FLV or a bunch more. Personally, I don't edit the ads out. During authoring I just set a chapter mark at the end of each commercial break and use the 'next' key on the player's remote.

Hah, a neat trick - I like it. :)
It's probably quicker to do as well, althought it does mean you are storing unwanted bytes in the output file/disc.

Perhaps the bytes aren't wasted, rather they are 'preserved for posterity'...So when I watch LOST 20 years from now I can say 'How primitive! Cars in the year 2004 couldn't even hover...Let alone fly"....
