I got my hands onto a copy of one movie. Ran the thing through DVD Shrink to get rid of unwanted stuff only to find some dumb subtitles (in caps even) hardcoded (apparently) into the video. What the heck am I supposed to do now?

Hi!
What is the Title and Region number of your original DVD?

Nevermind I guess. The person I downloaded it from resized 16:9 movie to 4:3, crippling the image completely, adding huge blocks of black on top and bottom. I just deleted it.
Lesson learned: do not want director's cut of movies you already have at any price.

Theres nothing wrong with directors cut's its the person that did the encode!
PS Even if you own a movie downloading a directors cut of it is still illegal!

I know it is, that's why I didn't want to mention in the first place :)

it's much easier to make sure everything is done right if you do it yourself :p

Well yes, but it's quite hard to find some movies in special editions...
